Beryl is a bike and scooter sharing scheme operating in towns and cities across the UK. Beryl e-bikes are a fun, convenient and affordable way to get around and can be used for a variety of purposes, such as commuting, running errands or exploring.

With a Beryl e-bike cycle to work subscription, you get the following:

• Unlimited free unlocks

• 2 x 30 minute free e-bike trips each day

• Unlimited pedal bike trips less than 30 minutes


You can take two e-bike trips under 30 minutes each day and unlimited pedal bike trips under 30 minutes each day at no cost. After 30 minutes, you will be charged at the standard Pay As You Ride rate.

A Beryl e-bike subscription normally costs £780 per annum, or £65 per month (pre-tax). You save £18.20 - £30.55 per month depending on your tax rate.

How do I get it?

The process is simple. We do the admin so you don't have to.

Here’s how it works:

    • Apply for a Beryl eBikes Cycle to Work scheme via CycleSaver.

    • Once approved and settled by your employer, your subscription will be activated based on the email used to set up your Beryl account.

    • The cost will spread over 12 months and be deducted from your salary before tax - leaving you with tax savings of 28% to 47%.

Once you apply, you'll receive regular updates on the status of your application.

Who is Beryl?

Beryl operates bike, e-bike, e-scooter and e-cargo bike share schemes in partnership with local authorities across the UK. They ernable more people to take up cleaner, healthier travel options to help reduce road congestion and improve air quality and public health.

What locations can I use Beryl bike sharing schemes?

The Beryl Cycle to Work product works in the following locations: Bournemouth, Brighton and Hove, Cornwall, Hereford, Isle of Wight, Leeds, Norwich, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and Watford.

Are there any additional charges?

As long as your rides are within 30 minutes (e-bikes and pedal bikes) for a maximum of 2 trips per day (e-bikes only) and you park responsibly, there are no additional charges. Poor parking and parking outside of the designated area will incur additional Out of Bay and Out of Zone fees. Does this subscription include the use of e-scooters

No, e-scooters are not included. They can be accessed at the normal rate via the Beryl app.

What is the Cycle to Work scheme?

The Cycle to Work scheme is a government-backed initiative that allows employees to purchase or hire a bicycle through their employer, making it more affordable through salary sacrifice.

How does the Cycle to Work scheme work?

Employees choose a bike hire membership from participating partner, and the employer purchases this subscription items on their behalf. The cost is then deducted from the employee's gross salary (salary sacrifice) over a set period of 12 months.

What is salary sacrifice, and how does it benefit me?

Salary sacrifice means giving up part of your salary in exchange for the bike rental subscription. This reduces your taxable income, resulting in potential savings on income tax and National Insurance contributions.

HOW TO APPLY

Am I eligible to participate in the Cycle to Work scheme?

Most employees in the UK are eligible, but it's essential to check with your employer, as eligibility criteria can vary. Typically, you need to be on the payroll and subject to PAYE tax.

How do apply for a cycle to work bike sharing subscription?

Simply click on the “Apply” button above, select your product and provide us with information on your employer as well as your personal information. We’ll contact your company and will communicate with you once everything has been approved and finalised.

Does my company need to be signed-up with CycleSaver.co.uk for me to take advantage of this?

Anyone can apply as long as you are eligible, however your company needs to be willing to administer the salary sacrifice arrangement for you. If your company isn't registered, you can provide us with your company's HR contact information in your application and we will be in touch with them to register with us so you can enjoy the benefits that CycleSaver has to offer!

ABOUT YOUR SUBSCRIPTION

What if I leave my job during the salary sacrifice period?

Your bike subscription will still be valid when you leave your job. You may need to settle the remaining balance for the subscription, usually from your final salary payment.

What happens at the end of the salary sacrifice period?

At the end of the agreed period, you can renew or discontinue your subscription.

Can I purchase multiple subscriptions?

Yes, you can join multiples subscriptions from different partners. Purchasing multiple subscriptions from the same partner is not possible. This is particularly popular in cities with multiple bike sharing schemes such as London.

Can I transfer my Cycle to Work scheme to a new employer?

Generally, you are unable to transfer an existing scheme to a new employer. Your subscription will be valid until the expiry date. 30 - 45 days before expiry, you can renew your subscription with your new employer.
